  "build it and they will come".

  i said, " in a world filled with crappy fast food restaurants that should never have made it, movies and tv shows that are terrible yet make millions, celebrities who are famous for doing nothing and butt ugly crappy cars that were built and sold by the millions; if you put "it" out there and are consistant about it, people will eventually find you.

  no matter how bad mcdonalds food is for you and (tastes) there will always be a line of people out the door.

  Yeah....and the Nazis were also a neatly dressed bunch who were super organized and kept records of everything.

  That is a ridiculous argument. How many people thought the world was flat when one man had the gall to say otherwise?

  Good point but I'm sure they'd argue that those who thought the world was flat, were relying upon mans limited knowledge and weren't being guided by the Governing Body.

  Are more than 1 billion muslims wrong?

  I asked that and they said..." Yes, apparently so". They completly missed the point.

  That's because Jehovah's Witnesses are nuts. You can't compare apples to nuts!

  LOL ! That's true but you might be able to put a few cracks in that outer shell they've developed.

  Especially when the Octo-Pope tells them that they're not wrong!

  Hey....even Catholics are entitled to a "New Light" now and then.

  "BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME"

  My JW family looked at me blankly when I said the above, after hearing them claim their religion has to be the TRUTH and is being blessed by God because the growth of the organization continues and has reached over 7 million plus members. They say " 7 milllion people can't all be wrong " .

  I said, " In a world filled with crappy fast food restaurants that should never have made it, movies and TV shows that are terrible yet make millions, celebrities who are famous for doing nothing and butt ugly crappy cars that were built and sold by the millions; if you put "it" out there and are consistant about it, people will eventually find you. No matter how bad McDonalds food is for you and (tastes) there will always be a line of people out the door. Yet this is not proof that the food is of good quality, is good for you or that it is the best restaurant out there.

  Arguing that the growth of the Organization is evidence that JW's are being blessed by God and are therefore the true religion, is not an argument at all as far as I can see. They said I wasn't comparing apples to apples.

  years ago, the society's speakers used to give many off the cuff statements.

  a lot of personal opinions and questionable remarks.. anything ever stand out for you in this area?.

  Serving Jehovah is supposed to be a joy and a privilege, yet back when they announced the lowering of the hours required for full time Pioneers, the audience broke out in enthusiastic applause. (Yaaaaay....we don't have to serve Jehovah as much anymore !!!)

  The Elderly Bethel Elder who made the announcement added, as the applause died down, "Yes....the "Friends" are getting tired" he also made reference to Jehovah's loving kindness and refreshment of our souls and the loving provisions made by the Faithful and Discreete Slave. (weren't the FDS the ones who lovingly came up with the original 100 hours per month in the first place ??)

  I remember thinking how these guys always seem to find a way to put a holy spin on everything they do even if what they are doing is damage control from a blunder that isn't working anymore.

  am i the only one that finds it funny that the organization's campaign this month is to offer a printed magazine that is simply an ad for a website?

  what's more is they have printed close to 50 mil copies which will be delivered by an army of volunteers who drive minivans and knock on the doors of empty houses repeatedly until they find someone at home...... can you imagine facebook going door to door to spread the word about how awesome their site is?.

  The information offered by the Watchtower Society that is intended to give people hope and to assist them when they are having difficulties in their personal life is so rudimentary that only the proflundly clueless are benefited by it. If you need serious answers or true guidance, you had better look elsewhere. Same thing goes for most of the Elder one encounters. The scary part is that they view themselves as so enligntened and so above anything offered elsewhere.

  Did your congregation have a "Pioneer Appreciation Day"?

  my mom (who is now a regular pioneer) has been laid up after having major surgery, and i assert my "biblical" rights as a daughter to do what i can to take care of her, so i have been trying to go to her house on my day off to vaccum and run errands for her since she is not supposed to drive.. she called me last saturday to tell me that i couldn't come by because she was driving to her pioneer appreciation day get-together, wtf .

  i'm just curious if this only happens in my area (michigan, us)????.

  It seems to be a harmless enough idea until you realize that the Bible makes no mention of Jesus or his apostles getting any extra recognition for their efforts and is silent in regard to drawing extra attention to good for nothing slaves who are only doing what they "ought" to be doing.

  The Gall & Hypocrisy!!

  just got a call from my daughter that she got word that the jw honeywagon (literature stand) has set up in the university she teaches at.

  one (and there are many) of the reasons we left was due to the stance on higher education, she was persecuted by the elders for attending the very university they are now set up in.

  my daughter eventually got a masters degree overseas and now teaches at the same unversity, is self sufficent and will not have to eke out some pittance of a living while fighting a very delbilitating health condition.

  announced that two ohio circuits are to be dissolved including 5 congregations.

  congregations in the dissolved circuits will be assigned to two existing circuits.

  the excuse the letter offered is that people are moving, or that people are retiring and leaving the area.

  ignoring the fact that all but the super jw's had a random stab at hours done in the ministry, with all the different activities the society said counted as ministry hours, just how accurate is there annual report?.

  what activities do you know of that were allowed to be counted as ministry time?
